It collects bribes and kickbacks from anyone who wants to emigrate to Mars, do business on Mars or travel to Mars. They protect their monopoly with deadly force.
Rutherford Engineering got a contract to build domed cities on Mars, but the wording of the contract says they get paid for the area they make habitable. How much would they get if they made the whole world habitable by terraforming the planet? And how would the Colonial Bureau react if their monopoly were threatened?

What I liked most and least is the same: This and it's sequel "Maker of Suns" is reminiscent of Neal Stephenson's "Seveneves" and James S.A. Corey's " The Expanse." Two works I absolutely adored. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that then I would need to give the others six stars.Product details

This work engages the reader from the first page and immerses one's intellect in undreamed of possibilities for mankind. Interesting characters and multiple plot lines propel the reader through this well written and enjoyable book.
